The U10s retain the BBRC 7s Cup
By Derry O'Hara
Unbeaten in 2 days with 27 tries for and 1 against the Tigers were unstoppable as they switched to 7s for the weekend and looked to retain the Cup
After a momentary scare in the Semi-Finals against their increasingly common adversaries D’Rhinos, the Tigers went into a final against some newly discovered opponents from their own backyard. Hailing from Selangor and having beaten D’Rhinos to the top of their pool the day previously the Tigers players did not quite know what to expect especially with some fill in duties for the second team and a couple of injuries leaving them stretched.
A rejigged side took the field and waited, and waited, and waited, the match ball was snaffled and some passes were thrown …..it began to rain, the crowd grew restless as they considered that there may be a rerun of yesterday’s 2 hours rain delay, until at last someone spotted the opposition and hustled them onto the field.
Fortunately after vanquishing D’Rhinos the Tigers were in the mood to play and some fantastic pressure whilst on the defensive coupled to 3 devastating cover tackles took the wind out of the Gunners sails and allowed the Tigers to put quality points on the board.
A fantastic weekend of rugby from the U10s who retained the cup they took this time last year while playing at U9s.
