Slippery When Wet
By Derry O'Hara
Heavy rain meant extremely challenging conditions for the U10s in the final of the Cobra Mini 10s 2016.
7 hours of torrential rain between field set up on Friday and start of play on Saturday had provided match conditions which were familiar to many of the spectators from ‘back in the day’ but all but unrecognizable to the players who were to take the field.
By the time the final came around and twenty-something games had been played the participants had come to terms with the conditions and were ready to give their all and so the Tigers took the field against BBRC of Malacca, one of the few teams to consistently score against them and break the Tigers defensive cover.
This time though, no mistakes, the defense remained un-breeched as the Tigers ran in 4 trys without reply as their fitness saw them through the last of 7 games on the bounce.
Testing conditions for the U10s, 7 wins and victory in the final of the Cobrat's 10s where last year they had been beaten out by the Bengals.
Thanks to the players for giving their all, to those players not selected who came along, stood on the sidelines and shouted their support, to Lewis for the pep talks which kept the team focused leading into the games and to the parents for their enthusiasm.
