Purpose & Atmosphere

This festival is designed not just as a rugby competition, but as a community celebration bridging sport, wellness and entertainment in a single weekend. With live music, social spaces, and activities for all ages, KL Tigers Fest aims to inspire participation and enjoyment beyond conventional match play 

Participation & Registration

Registrations are live for individual participants and full teams. Categories include rugby 10s, touch rugby and fitness games.

The KL Tigers International Juniors Tournament is a leading youth rugby event in Asia, drawing international teams and showcasing the strength of grassroots sport in Malaysia. With its blend of competitive spirit and inclusive community atmosphere, it continues to be a highlight of the regional rugby calendar.

International Participation & Size

First held in 2015, the tournament has grown into one of the region’s biggest youth rugby events, welcoming over 150 teams from more than four countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and more.

In 2024, approximately 157 teams and nearly 5,000 players took part. By 2025, the field expanded to 168 teams, drawing over 7,000 players and spectators.

Event Format & Divisions

Held over two days, the tournament features:

• 10-a-side format for age-divisions U6 to U14
• 15-a-side format introduced in 2025 for U15–U17 categories
• Girls' Touch Rugby divisions at U12, U15, and U18 levels
• A special veterans’ exhibition match adds to the atmosphere

Age groups are organized into pools—some with single pools of eight teams, others split into two pools of seven—with a full tournament schedule published online via platforms like Macoocoo.

Values & Atmosphere

The tournament emphasizes rugby’s core values—integrity, passion, teamwork, discipline, and respect—and serves as both a competition and a joyful community event for young athletes.

Matches take place at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort in Kuala Lumpur, with a lively festival environment featuring high-intensity games, enthusiastic crowds, food stalls, and family-friendly activities.

Public entry is generally free, encouraging parents, supporters, and local visitors to experience youth rugby firsthand.

Organiser & Recognition

The event is fully sanctioned by Malaysia Rugby Union, with support from the Ministry of Youth & Sports Malaysia and the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture.

KL Tigers RFC, founded in 2014 and affiliated as a global partner club of Leicester Tigers, operates a well-established junior rugby academy for players from U4 to U18, alongside girls’, men's and veterans’ teams.
